Married!

This probably isn't news to anybody who reads this site but I figured it didn't make sense to NOT post about it...I got married! To whom? Elsa!

Chris and Elsa

Aren't we cute!? Yeah!

We went to Holden Beach, NC for our honeymoon and had a lot of fun. Spent most of the time just loungin on the beach but we also took the opportunity to go parasailing, as seen below.

parasailing

It was a ton of fun! We were given 15 minutes of air time and it absolutely flew by. We may do it again in the future but it isn't cheap and 15 minutes is pretty short but its definitely worth doing at least once.

It has been three weeks now and let me tell ya, its pretty sweet. We just moved into a new apartment in Dublin, OH and I will be posting photos of that (don't hold your breath) once the place is entirely setup. It is a pretty badass apartment.

As I type, Elsa is ironing my clothes and will follow that up with making dinner. Life is good.

So far I rate marriage a 7/7.

iPhone SDK!

I have been toying with the idea of playing with the iPhone SDK for a while now but finally decided to give it a go last week. The download was 1.7GB and it installs nearly 5GB. That is alright though, as installing everything together is convenient and ensures there are no setup issues to be had. You can simply open the IDE(Xcode) and you are off to the races.

As with any language, the very first thing you have to do(it's totally a rule) is write a very basic "Hello World" application. Not one to break rules, I followed this standard. You can see the result below.

Hello World Iphone

It is a pretty fun learning process because when you work with one language, Java, for eight hours a day for nearly two years, you become pretty damn comfortable with it. Objective-C is not Java and is definitely going to take some getting used to. Oh and John, I don't want to hear it. Memory management is for chumps. It's not a feature, it's a chore.

I bought a book that, so far, does a good job of showing you how to use the iPhone SDK and teaching you Objective-C at the same time. Hopefully in a couple weeks I will be well versed in the SDK as well as the Objective-C language! I will post again if anything cool comes from my learning.
